NATIVE DANCER

This creative interpretation of a vintage Indian Carousel Pony pays proud tribute to the artistic traditions behind the magnificent, hand-carved, carousel horses that were popular in America at the turn of the century. With "Native Dancer," we are commemorating this extraordinary art form and the artisans and craftsmen that elevated these elaborate Painted Ponies, as they were known, to a high art. At one time, more than 7,000 carousels, or merry-go-rounds, spun their magical spells in amusement parks around the world – and many of those carousel horses were museum-quality works of art. Regrettably, only 300 carousels remain in existence today; and they are still stunning and enchanting, after all these years.
